John is Chief Information Officer of a $32 billion diversified technology and industrial company. He is a global Information Technology executive with extensive public board, finance, Six Sigma, ERP, M&A integration and cybersecurity expertise. John has served in progressively larger, public company CIO and CIO-Plus assignments spanning complex services, engineered products, and digital, Internet of Things (IoT) and analytics business models.
As part of the $14 billion Johnson Controls - Tyco merger in September 2016, and as a member of the new Johnson Controls Executive Management Team, John serves as executive sponsor for five merger integration teams and manages an annual IT budget of ~ $1B. Prior to the merger, John served as Senior Vice President, Global Chief Information Officer and Enterprise Transformation Leader with Tyco. In this CIO-Plus role, he was responsible for global IT strategy, systems and services, and led the organization’s $100M+ Functional Transformation, Global Shared Services and Process Excellence programs.
For nine years, prior to joining Tyco in 2012, John was the Senior Vice President and Global Chief Information Officer of Covance (NYSE: CVD), one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical development services and informatics companies. In this role, John led a successful multi-year $200M+ IT infrastructure and ERP transformation.
Earlier in his career, John served as Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer and e-Business Leader for General Electric’s GE Americom division, a global satellite operator and GE Capital operating company. He spent more than 14 years with GE, serving in senior Information Technology, e-Business, Finance and Six Sigma leadership roles. He also held positions as Senior Auditor and CPA with Ernst & Young.
John served as Board Director and Audit Committee Member of BioClinica (NASDAQ: BioC), a specialty clinical trial services and software provider, prior to its successful sale to JLL Partners in 2013.
John currently serves on the CIO Advisory Board of Insight Venture Partners, a leading global private equity and venture capital firm, and is active in advising Insight’s Portfolio companies. He also serves on the salesforce.com CIO Advisory Board and the Lightspeed Venture Partners CIO Innovation Advisory Network. With Tyco, John served as the executive sponsor of Tyco Cares, a philanthropic and volunteerism arm of Tyco’s Corporate Citizenship program. Currently, John serves as a director for the Johnson Controls Foundation.
John is a CIO mentor at Columbia University’s Executive M.S. in Technology Management program. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Villanova University (1985) and an MBA in IT systems from Drexel University (1993). John and his family reside in Millstone Township, New Jersey.
