George has led 3 major turnarounds of IT organizations within a major defense contractor. These changes focused on reducing cost, increasing business profitability, synergizing the IT operations, and enabling the IT PMO. This is accomplished through a thorough evaluation of the existing IT environment, documenting the environment, and then establishing the go-forward IT operations including the current cost and the target cost. Initially, looking at applications, hardware, processes, and IT personnel to identify target reductions and IT business enhancements.
George is a proven Information Technology leader whose IT leadership started out in a start-up environment. He was challenged with hiring the entire IT team focused on delivering effective yet efficient IT across a business that spanned 50 states and 20 countries. He was challenges with consolidating the 5 existing ERP environments to a single IT environment within an 18-month timeframe and reduce the total existing IT costs by 30 %. Recognized by the corporate CIO for his ability to lead an IT organization focused on efficiency and effectiveness, George was asked to lead the corporate-wide IT Transformation project and his role was expanded to lead a 1,600 manned IT organization in addition to his sector CIO role.

Reduced 112 data-centers to 3 corporate-wide data-centers
Designing and implementing an always-on network across the 3 corporate-wide data-centers
Reduced the PC environment from over 60 variations to 4, with a single product vendor
Reduced the server environment to a single supplier and single platform
Reduced the application environment from over 15,000 applications to 2,000 applications
Restructured and reduced the IT headcount from 2,400 to 1,600
First-year cost savings results - $150M, overall savings after project completion of $390M
George was recruited by the president of the largest sector to come to his sector and instill the transformational changes to his business. These changes resulted in an additional $52M of savings.
George has a MS degree in Information Technology Management and an MBA in General Management.
